for travel week (spring break), a group went to italy, some went to prague, and some others headed to paris. all of those sounded fun-- but since i had already been to 2 of those places i decided that i would rather have my mom come to london to visit me. the plan was that she would get to london friday afternoon, have the day to rest, and then us and kinsey would catch the chunnel saturday morning to belgium for the weekend. my mom's connecting flight from minneapolis to london ended up getting delayed & then canceled; so after no sleep, another connecting flight, and a 5 hour layover... she finally made it to london saturday morning. sadly, her bags didn't make it to london with her haha. her bags were on their way on the next flight to london and were supposed to be dropped off at the centre around 2 pm. since we had already missed our chunnel in the morning to belgium, we hungout around the centre and waited to see if her bags would get here. after a few hours of waiting & no bags, we decided to try and catch the last chunnel to belgium that day. we caught the chunnel.. and me and brend ended up sharing clothes for the whole weekend haha. we took the chunnel to brussels-- and then a train to brugge. since we got in late-- we called it a night and went to the hotel.
sunday we saw brugge. we walked around, went on a canal cruise, and took kinsey to our favorite place to get frites. so so yummy!
after brugge, we took the train to ghent. we had never been to ghent, so it was fun to see a new place-- and i think that it has become my favorite city in belgium. we explored around ghent for a bit before we headed back in for the night. the next morning (monday) we saw the gravensteen castle, and then went to the belfry. the belfry is the bell tower in ghent- where you can go all the way to the top to see a pretty view of the city.

after seeing ghent, we took another train to brussels. (since the chunnel back to london only departs from brussels, belgium; we decided that we should give ourselves at least 1 hour in brussels. [just enough time to get a good waffle and breeze through some sights haha])

[best part of the trip-- we get out of the taxi and we're right by this frite place. kinsey looks up at the sign (top left).. and asks "what are those round things?" hahaha brenda replied, "those are potato's kins..." hahaha we had a good laugh. who knew fries came from potatoes!?!]

we had such a fun trip and when we got back to london we were relieved to see that my mom's bags were at the centre waiting for her. a perfect weekend!

Missing my Burberry glasses - another tragedy of the trip! Also, just had to laugh how we almost missed our trains twice. Once we were saved by the cute Belgian man who was obsessed by you and Kins. The other time we were smart enough to ask if Ghent was the same thing as Genk (and it wasn't). And always remember to keep your feet off the train cushions - no 12.50 fine!!"
I could NOT be more jealous of your fun weekend you three!!! I love brend, and of COURSE that happens to her with the bags...hahaha too classic. You saw so many amazing things and FRITES? Want them too too bad. I love you and am so happy you guys had so much fun together! cutest pictures!
