wedding bells & tearful goodbyes.

the past few weeks have been really busy... but very fun.
first, we had christmas. this was a good break from steph's wedding planning. we ate too much food, got good gifts, and spent lots of time together.

next, steph & sam's wedding dinner and wedding. wednesday night they had their wedding dinner at grand america. the next morning they got married and then they had their reception at the st. regis. everything was so beautiful and it was so fun to spend time with everyone. congrats!! i miss you both!

a few days later i left for london. saying goodbye is always hard- and it has been a lot harder being away from home than i expected it to be, but it will get better!!
(i tried uploading more pics, but the internet in london isn't too good wherever i go, so it wont upload my pics! hopefully i will figure out a different way or something soon!)

krɪsməs brek.

after a long semester.. i am happy that school is finally over and it is time for christmas break! no more transcribing words to their phonetic symbols, no more tests and papers, and no more statistics! (considering that i had a hard to understand teacher for stats, who couldn't speak english very well.. so for more than half of the semester i thought he was teaching us about arpha.. not alpha. prettttttty fun)

new favorite christmas song:

waffles & frites.

when me and my family went to belgium this past october, we absolutely fell in love with everything belgium, but more importantly with frites and waffles.

fresh cut potatoes + fried + fried {again} + served hot + eaten with a baby fork = frites

basically scone dough + big sugar crystals that caramelize + taken right from the iron to your mouth = sugar waffles
(my mouth is watering as i am writing this)

when we returned home from our trip - we were already missing the food. kinda pathetic? nope. i googled "how to make real belgium sugar waffles" no joke. ask maria about how i love to google and will ask [it] the most random questions. but needless to say, i couldn't find any good recipes that could even come close to how good the sugar waffles from belgium are.. and none of them were legit belgium waffles. as me and my mom were looking for a place to eat today for lunch- we couldn't be happier to find this.
they were so so yummy and as close as we'll ever get to the real thing.
oh bruge, how i miss you. you were too good to us.
